Art Passions/Specific Interests 

I’ve always enjoyed the detail and controlled aspects of art, the way you can portray a story through environment, clothes, shapes, or even just colors. Telling a story is my passion. My inability to get through traditional books led me to graphic novels and comics, which further fueled my passion for storytelling and worldbuilding. Once I was introduced to the idea of doing it for a living you better believe I jumped on that wagon right away. Concept art, Visual Development, and Storyboarding are my ticket to doing what I love.

Strengths and Weaknesses 

As an artist I have an unrestrained ambition with my pieces, I'm very “Go big or go home” and it is no help that I’m very detail-oriented. Now yes, these qualities hold me back sometimes but they also help me stand out. I like to think that I'm a proud person when it comes to art but, “The bigger they are the harder they fall”. When a mistake is made I'm harder on myself than necessary. Still I pick myself up and grab my stylus.

Development as an Artist 

My parents knew I was an artist as soon as I picked up a pencil. Not because I was particularly good at it, it was probably scribbles of blue and pink but because it has always made me irreversibly happy. One of my favorite stories was the time my dad left me in the car to quickly pick up something or another, and when he got back I was sleeping covered head to toe with sticky notes filled with my “fabulous” drawings. To foster my passion, my parents threw me into art classes as soon as I was allowed. I started learning and I just couldn’t stop. I'm still going strong today and hope to never stop.

Goals and Artistic Future 

I want to attend a 4-year art college. I've begun to look for schools that have majors in Visual Development, Illustration, and Concept Art. Working on indie films and side hustles should help me build connections to find a job in a stable and well-known studio. I’m aiming to eventually work at Disney, illuminations, etc as a concept artist.

Who is Sage Karras? (Outside of art)

Hello! I'm Sage, an artist with the hobby of being a high school student. I’m an extrovert who is happy to meet new and unique people whether we are in a subway or a ballroom. I’m a detail-oriented person with a love for nerd culture, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, D&D you name it. At the end of the day, my goal is to make my world and others' a better place, be it through humor or art.
